Day 2 - The Pilot

In the morning, we began the travel to the jungle to find the transmitter of the plane. Kate and a young guy a bit strange (he said he was a rock star) joined to the search.

When we arrived to the plane wreck, a heavy rain began to fall.

En la mañana emprendimos el viaje hacia la selva para encontrar el transmisor del avión. Kate y un muchacho algo extraño (según el, estrella de rock) se unió en la búsqueda. 
Cuando estábamos arribando a los restos del avión, una copiosa lluvia comenzó a caer.

Within the plane everything was death and destruction. It was difficult to enter and arrive to the aircraft cabin. Charlie was a bit annoying. For a moment I didn't know where he was.
When I could open the cabin, a body fell suddenly. Everything was shocking. We saw the pilot on his chair. Apparently he was dead. But while we were looking for the transmitter, suddenly he awaked! 
I revised him and knew he had suffered a conmotion.

En su interior todo era muerte y destrucción. Fue difícil entrar y llegar hasta la cabina. Charlie se volvía algo molesto, por un momento no supe a donde se había escondido. 
Cuando logré abrir la cabina un cuerpo cayó de repente. Todo era impactante. Encontramos al piloto en su asiento, aparentemente estaba muerto. Pero mientras buscábamos el transmisor súbitamente despertó!. 
Lo revisé y supuse que había sufrido una conmoción. 

He told us how he had lost the way, and he said that we just should have been rescued. He stood up as he could and looked for the transmitter. In that moment, from the jungle, we could hear a terrible noise. It seemed to be a creature. The same sound we had heard the night before.
The horror came over us. I hugged Kate and for a moment we were expectants

El nos contó como había perdido el rumbo y que ya nos tendrían que haber localizado. Se levantó como pudo y buscó el transmisor. En ese momento desde afuera pudimos oír un ruido terrible. Parecía una criatura. El mismo sonido que habíamos oído la noche anterior.
El horror se apoderó de nosotros. Abracé a Kate y por un momento nos quedamos expectantes. 

Then, we tried to look through the windows. We wanted to know what "thing" was out there.
The pilot decided to look at through a broken glass y suddenly this "thing" trapped him.
I can't explain the panic we felt. Everything was screams and suffering from the pilot. Twitching and suffering, and finally the "thing" took him. A stream of blood fell over one of the windows. It was shocking.
The piece of the plane where we were, began to move. Suddenly it changed its position and fell to the floor. I took the transmitter and the three went out and run. run, as fast as we could, in a muddy field and with a torrential rain.

Luego tratamos de ver por las ventanas que cosa era la que estaba allí afuera. 
El piloto decidió asomarse por un vidrio roto y de pronto esa "cosa" lo atrapó. 
No puedo explicar el pánico que sentimos  Todo eran gritos y sufrimiento por parte del piloto. Tironeos y gritos, hasta que finalmente se lo llevó. Un chorro de sangre calló sobre una de las ventanas. El shock fue tremendo. 
La pieza de avión en la que estábamos comenzó a moverse. La "cosa" de afuera nos estaba empujando. De pronto cambió su posición y cayó al suelo. Tomé el transmisor y salimos los tres corriendo. Tan fuerte como podíamos, en un terreno lodoso y con una lluvia torrencial. 

Charlie stumbled over roots and I went back to help him. This "thing" hardly catches us. I could hear it very close to me. After a desperate moment, I could release him. We run again and in a moment of a heavy rain, I lost Charlie. I dove into the bushes and when everything was quiet I went to look for my friends. I found them in shock looking at the mangled body of the pilot hanged from some branches. That "thing" had done it.

Charlie tropezó con unas raíces y me volví a ayudarlo. Esa "cosa" casi nos alcanza. Podía oírla muy cerca. Luego de un momento desesperado logré soltarlo. Corrimos nuevamente y en un momento de mucha lluvia perdí de vista a Charlie. Me metí entre los arbustos y cuando todo se calmó salí para buscar a mis amigos. Los encontré viendo shockeados el cuerpo destrozado del piloto que colgaba de unas ramas. Esa "cosa" lo había hecho.

We decided to go back to the beach with the rest of the people. Charlie didn't stop to annoy with questions about the transmitter.

The peace didn't last long between the survivors. Apparently, an Iraki called Sayid was harrassed by a guy called Sawyer, only for his procedence. He accused him of terrorist. It sparked a fight with fists, on which I had to help to stop, and so I gained Sawyer's hate.

Decidimos volver a la playa con el resto de la gente. Charlie no paraba de molestar con sus preguntas acerca del transmisor. 

La calma no duró mucho entre los demás sobrevivientes. Al parecer un tal Sawyer hostigaba constantemente a un Irakí llamado Sayid por su procedencia, y lo acusaba de terrorista. Todo desató una pelea con puños en la que ayudé a detener, ganándome el rencor de Sawyer. 

But, although we tried to calm them, we couldn't. Until Kate intervened.
She told everybody about the transmitter we had found and Sayid offered fix it. Apparently he had knowledge in transmissions.
The black woman whom I had assisted advised me on the injured man. He was worse.
I revised him. He was bad. While I tried to help him, I noticed Kate was staring at me. I didn't understand her interest for that man. I told her I couldn't do anything. I felt impotent. As a doctor, I knew I could cure him if I had been in a hospital.

Pero nuestros intentos de calmarlos no alcanzaban hasta que Kate los hizo entrar en razones. Les contó a todos sobre el transmisor que habíamos encontrado y Sayid se ofertó para arreglarlo porque tenía conocimientos en transmisiones. 
La mujer de color a la que había auxiliado me avisó que el herido con el trozo de hierro en su vientre estaba mal. 

Fui a revisarlo. Realmente estaba mal. Sangraba por su herida, no despertaba del golpe en su cabeza. Mientras trataba de hacer algo por el, me di cuenta de que Kate me estaba observando.No entendía la causa de su interés por ese hombre. Le dije que nada podía hacer sin elementos. Me sentía impotente. Como médico sabía que podría curarlo si estuviera en un hospital. 

In that moment Kate told me that she and a group of survivors were gonna try to find signal for the transmitter, and they would go again into the jungle. They would need to find the most tall place in the island. 
I don't know why, but I felt that I didn't want her in danger. I said it to her, but she wanted to go equally, I asked her to be careful and if there was danger, to run.

I didn't have elements to help those people, and many people would sick soon. We didn't have enough fresh water, and the wounds doesn't cure in a situation like that. I asked for help to Hurley. I asked him to look for medicaments, specially antibiotics. 
While I was looking for by my own, I talked to Michael. He was worried of his son. He had a dog which had come with them, but he hadn't found it yet. Then I told him that I had seen it into the jungle and it was good.

En ese momento Kate me comentó el plan que tenían, ella y un grupo mas. Iban a tratar de encontrar señal en el transmisor, y para eso se internarían nuevamente en la selva hasta el lugar mas alto de la isla. 
No se por qué, pero sentí que no quería que ella fuera, que se arriesgara. Se lo dije, pero como ella quería ir igual y yo no podía dejar a mi paciente, le pedí que se cuidara y si estaba en peligro, que corriera. 

No tenía elementos para ayudar a esta gente, y pronto habría muchos enfermos. No teníamos suficiente agua potable, y las heridas no se curan en un ambiente como este. Así que le pedí ayuda a Hurley. Le dije que buscara todos los medicamentos que pudiera entre los equipajes, especialmente antibióticos.
Mientras buscaba por mi cuenta, entable una charla con Michael. El estaba preocupado por su hijo porque en el vuelo habían viajado con un perro y no lo encontraban. Entonces le dije que cuando desperté en la selva un perro pasó junto a mi y se lo veía bien. 

I found something that I could use as a scalpel. I went back with my patient and tried to do an improvised operation. I asked help to Hurley again, but he was impressionable. I needed someone heavy to hold to the man while I took out the piece of steel of his stomach, but Hurley broke down and fainted over him. Everything was so complicated now. I don't know how but I finished the operation, and sewed to the man. Although it wouldn't be a relief for him.
Encontré algo que podría usar como bisturí. Volví al lado de mi paciente e intenté una operación improvisada. Le pedí ayuda a Hurley otra vez, pero el era impresionable. Yo necesitaba a alguien fuerte que sostuviera al herido mientras yo le arrancaba el hierro de su vientre, pero Hurley se puso tan mal que termino desmayandose sobre el herido. Todo se complicaba. No se como, pero finalmente pude coserlo. Aunque esto no seria un alivio para ese hombre.

The group had left, I was worried. Worried for them. Worried for Kate

El grupo había partido, estaba preocupado. Preocupado por ellos. Preocupado por Kate
